Program December 2017

In December 2017 Capri by Night presents Now Dance.

Now Dance borrows it’s name from a song by the same title, released in 1987 by Byron Davis & The Fresh Krew on the 4 Sight Records label. Like many early Miami Bass artists, Davis packed his work with samples from sources like Ohio Players’ Love Rollercoaster and Roger’s unforgettable 10+ minute rendition of I Heard it Through the Grapevine.

Now Dance is both an original composition and an index of sorts, enticing listeners to learn more about the genre’s roots and influences.  Ben Sisto’s December collection of videos for Capri by Night works in a similar way — a mixtape of ideas, samples, artists and presentation styles that offer a window into the wider world of dance as he has come to know and appreciate it.

curated by Ben Sisto, who oversees the cultural programming at Ace Hotel in New York, including annual exhibitions and artists in residence program
