The August selection is a compilation of short films, which represent a very own category of the dance film. Here, the choreography was specifically developed for the medium of the moving image and involves both the dancers and the camera. Dance performances, made for the camera, will never be the same on a real stage. They strongly depend on their spatial environment, whether an outside, inside or a completely fictive space.
curated by Ágota Harmati – a curator for contemporary dance who works in Germany, Spain and Hungary. In Spain she has been realizing projects for the Miró Foundation and in Cologne, she recently organized the Dance Film Festival “Moovy” at Filmforum NRW, Museum Ludwig.
